FAQ: What is A Partition?

If you research the Ademco Vista security systems, sooner or later you will see that they have partitions. So, what is a partition, and why should I care?

A partition is a divided section in your security system. For example, you could put your entire basement on one partition, and the rest of your home on another. That way, if you wanted to arm or disarm your basement, you could do so without arming or disarming the rest of the house. Well, thats interesting, but why would I want to do so? Well, if you had a basement office, containing personal business information, you will want that monitored at all times, even if you are home. it adds a whole new level to the functionality of your home security system; and the nice thing is, all of this can run off of one keypad.

New Keychain Remote from Honeywell

Honeywell has just released the new Ademco Wireless Keychain Remote. It has a sleek new design, easy to use functionality, and is very affordable.

I know this isn't a completely new concept. Ademco, and other companies have had wireless remotes for years. Still, its a nice new design with added buttons and functionality. Basically, it’s designed to allow you to control your security system from a remote location. So, for security reasons, you may want your control panel in the closet of the master bedroom, located upstairs. The keychain remote allows you to arm and disarm the system from outside. The cool thing about it is that you can also program it to control your light features, close your garage door, etc. If you already have an Ademco system, I highly recommend adding this feature.
